Kanakchauri

Kanakchauri is a small village located on the Rudraprayag-Pokhri road, just 40 kms from Rudraprayag. Kanakchauri is famous as the starting point of the beautiful trek to Kartik Swami Temple.

Getting there

You can take a shared Jeep from Rudraprayag to Kanakchauri, which is the cheapest and best option. Shared jeeps take around Rs 50 from Rudraprayag to Kanakchauri. Though there is some bus service from Rudraprayag to Pokhri via Kanakchauri but its timings are quite odd for tourists.( It takes less than 2 hours to reach Kanakchauri from Rudraprayag.
